National Organizations
National Down Syndrome Congress [NDSC] NDSC's purpose is to create a national climate in which all persons will recognize and embrace the value and dignity of persons with Down syndrome. They are committed to promoting the availability of and accessibility to a full range of opportunities and/or recourses that meet individual and family needs, and to educating professionals, parents and the community in all aspects relating to Down syndrome.
The National Down Syndrome Society  The National Down Syndrome Society was established in 1979 to increase public awareness about Down syndrome; to assist families in addressing the needs of children born with this genetic condition; and to sponsor and encourage scientific research.
National Association for Down Syndrome (NADS) A not-for-profit organization, was founded in Chicago in 1961 by parents of children with Down syndrome who felt a need to create a better environment and bring about understanding and acceptance of people with Down syndrome. Primary focus is the Chicago area, but they do serve a national audience.
UpSide of Downs Our organization is called the UpSide of Downs.   Our goal is to provide positive "upside" information to prospective and new parents of children with Down syndrome.  Our other goal is to raise funds for Down syndrome scientific research projects.
The Arc of the United States The national organization of and for people with mental retardation and related disabilities and their families.
